President Yoweri Museveni (President of the Republic of Uganda)  received and accepted an invitation from the Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association who is also the Deputy Speaker of the Cameroon National Assembly, Emilia Monjowa Lifaka, to become the Vice-Patron of the Commonwealth Conference. CPA PRESIDENT DESIGNATE

Rt Hon. Rebecca Kadaga (MP) held the CPA Officer position of Chairperson of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) from 2013-2016. She had previously been the Vice-Chairperson of Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (International) as well as an Executive Committee Member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly representing Africa. She has been the Chairperson of Commonwealth Women Parliamentarian Africa Region where she spearheaded a campaign of engaging leaders of political parties to appreciate the value of increasing the number of women in high positions of leadership. click here for details

ABOUT CPA

Commonwealth Parliamentary Association

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) was founded in 1911 as the Empire Parliamentary Association and was run in the United Kingdom.Originally, it comprised Australia, Canada, Newfoundland, New Zealand, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

It would later change name in 1948, a plan that saw the coming on board of most Commonwealth. It also has an independent, fully fledged secretariat based in London, financed by all member states.The CPA in 1989 created the constitutional posts of Patron and Vice-Patron.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Head of the Commonwealth, consented to become Patron. The position of Vice-Patron is reserved for the Head of State or Government of the CPA Branch hosting the plenary conference.The Association currently has approximately 180 branches and is divided into nine regions – Africa, Asia; Australia, British Islands and Mediterranean, Canada, Caribbean, Americas and Atlantic, India, Pacific, and South-East Asia. The CPA Headquarters Secretariat is based in London.

To this end, Uganda visas may also be obtained at Uganda missions abroad or on arrival at the ports of entry in the country.
